The Abu Dhabi City Municipality organized the first "Innovation Retreat" to find practical and creative solutions to institutional challenges and identify alternatives that can drive the success and progress of various services and roles the municipality provides to the community, thereby enhancing its contribution to Abu Dhabi's comprehensive development.
The retreat was attended by H.E. Saif Badr Al Qubaisi, the Director General of the municipality, along with executive directors, department heads, section chiefs, and innovation ambassadors from the Abu Dhabi City Municipality.
The retreat centered on the importance of fostering a culture of innovation and creativity in addressing challenges, encouraging the exploration of new ideas, and developing innovative solutions to the municipality's issues. It provided a platform for thinking outside the box, stimulating collective thinking, and creating a new vision that inspires all municipality members to achieve the institution's shared goals and values.
Key topics discussed during the retreat included eliminating bureaucracy, future foresight and climate change, and artificial intelligence.
The Innovation Retreat also aimed to promote and reinforce the concept of innovation among senior leadership at the municipality through unconventional meetings between top leaders, following a structured program that included open discussions, interactive dialogues, and accompanying activities to enhance collaboration and harmony among the participating teams.
The retreat sought to achieve several institutional goals to improve the municipality’s performance and efficiency, including:
1. Strengthening communication and alignment among Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s leadership.
2. Ensuring institutional compliance with auditing and quality requirements.
After the retreat, participants shared and explored the innovative ideas and solutions proposed, discussing their feasibility and potential for implementation and development.
