Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through the Municipal Services Sector - Animal Welfare Department - implemented a field awareness campaign, targeting the awareness of pet shop owners and workers, with the aim of educating them about the health requirements that must be available in shops, observing the Animal Welfare Law, and implementing the regulations and systems related to the acquisition, sale, and shelter of pets.
The campaign witnessed visits to dozens of targeted stores in Abu Dhabi by the Animal Welfare Department team, who focused their field visits on clarifying the requirements for selling animals, the importance of providing a healthy and safe environment, providing health and veterinary care, and observing the human values related to animal welfare.
The Animal Welfare Team was keen to ensure the health requirements in the shops that were visited, the health conditions of the animals and birds offered for sale, and to ensure the implementation of animal welfare requirements and executive regulations, and adherence to the laws and regulations that the Department of Municipalities and Transport operates in this regard, and to educate and inform the target groups of the campaign about everything related to animal welfare requirements.
