To promote social responsibility among community members and raise awareness about the importance of combating harmful practices to preserve the city’s aesthetic and cultural appearance, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through the Municipal Community Center in Shakhbout City, organized the "My City is Beautiful" event in cooperation with Tadweer Group, Gulf Dairies Company, and several schools in Shakhbout City.
This event is part of the ongoing efforts by Abu Dhabi City Municipality, its affiliated centers, and the City Presence Centers to maintain the city’s general appearance, ensure a clean and healthy environment, and promote quality of life standards. The event aimed to preserve Abu Dhabi’s distinguished aesthetic character and address negative phenomena through community participation, contributing to the enhancement and cleanliness of the city’s facilities for the well-being of all community members.
The two-day event featured awareness and practical workshops, and dozens of seedlings were distributed and planted. On the first day, certain visual disturbances in different areas of Shakhbout City were identified and removed in collaboration with teams from the Tadweer Group. Additionally, the municipality teams distributed numerous seedlings to some of the city's residents, encouraging them to engage in gardening and expand the city’s green spaces to enhance their natural beauty.
On the second day, several workshops were held at Shakhbout City Park, targeting school students and park visitors from the local community. A team from Tadweer Group conducted an introductory workshop on recycling waste, explaining the types of materials that can be recycled and how to benefit from them.
The municipality teams also educated students and park visitors on the importance of maintaining the park's cleanliness and aesthetic appearance and ensuring the cleanliness and efficiency of its recreational and service facilities, which were created for the enjoyment of all community members. Additionally, students and park visitors participated in planting dozens of seedlings in various parts of the park. Students also competed for the best model made from recycled materials, with prizes awarded to the winners.
The event was accompanied by the publication of numerous awareness posts on Abu Dhabi City Municipality's official social media accounts and the "Fareejna" application to encourage and educate community members on the importance of preserving the city's aesthetic and cultural appearance, as well as its recreational and service facilities.
