Abu Dhabi
The Abu Dhabi Municipality, an affiliate entity of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, recently organized the second edition of the "Training and Talent Acquisition Forum" as part of its mission to develop and enhance human capital in the Emirate.
Conducted by the Strategic Planning and Performance Management Sector of the Knowledge and Creativity Department. 11 universities and colleges participated in the event, including Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, Khalifa University, Zayed University, United Arab Emirates University, Sorbonne Abu Dhabi University, Mohamed Bin Zayed University for artificial Intelligence, Liwa College of Technology, Abu Dhabi University, Al Khwarizmi International College, Abu Dhabi Institute for Vocational Education and Training, and Higher Colleges of Technology.
The session aimed to build capacities and competencies through workshops and free courses by municipality employees and to provide opportunities for participating students to work on real projects intended to benefit the municipality to strengthen their skills and competencies to prepare them for future employment. Through the forum, the organizers also seek to identify outstanding students who can be potentially tapped to work in the municipality. In addition, the forum hopes to leverage the technical and specialized studies by academic institutions in supporting the work of various sections and departments in the municipality.
The "Training and Talent Acquisition Forum" included lectures by Abu Dhabi Municipality employees on a wide range of topics, such as the art of speech, accounting/budgeting, leadership, sustainability, urban planning, innovation and knowledge, and developing foresight for the future.
During the forum, collaborative meetings were also held between university presidents and deans of participating colleges with directors of departments in the Abu Dhabi City Municipality to discuss ways of cooperation in technical and specialized studies and research. A space was provided for each university in the Innovation Hall, where the forum was held, to present their degree programs, where job matching sessions were also conducted between officials of the Employment Department of Abu Dhabi City Municipality with university representatives to discuss work opportunities that might be available for students at the municipality.
