Abu Dhabi City Municipality is committed to ensuring the safety of workers across various sectors and establishments. It continuously conducts inspection and awareness campaigns to verify the compliance of work environments with public health and safety standards. As part of this commitment, the Municipality conducted an inspection campaign targeting vehicle repair and maintenance workshops in the Mussafah Industrial Area. The campaign aimed to raise awareness among business owners and workers about the necessary public health requirements that must be met.
During the campaign, municipal inspectors emphasized the importance of adhering to health regulations specific to maintenance workshops and maintaining cleanliness within the premises and among the workers. They also stressed that all activities and services must be conducted within the boundaries of the establishment and not extend to external areas, such as sidewalks and outdoor spaces, to avoid environmental pollution and waste dispersion and to preserve the city’s aesthetic and civilized appearance.
Inspectors ensured that several safety requirements were met in the workshops and repair shops, including verifying the quality of the flooring, ensuring there were no cracks, and confirming that vehicle ramps were moveable to prevent waste buildup underneath. They also checked that liquid waste, such as oils, was not disposed of in sewage systems but properly discarded using designated waste containers. Additionally, inspectors verified the availability of necessary safety measures for workers in these establishments.
The campaign also stressed the importance of adequately storing gas cylinders in designated and suitable areas, regularly maintaining tools and equipment, and ensuring that workers in these workshops undergo training programs mandated by relevant authorities to enhance efficiency, safety, and security.
To reinforce the campaign’s objectives, several awareness materials were published on Abu Dhabi City Municipality's official social media accounts. These materials aimed to ensure the safety of workers in vehicle repair and maintenance workshops and the community members who frequent these establishments.
