As part of its participation in World Diabetes Day, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, represented by the Environment, Health and Safety Department, organized an awareness workshop, with the aim of raising awareness among the municipality’s female and male employees about ways to prevent diabetes, in cooperation with its partner “Canadian Hospital”, In the "Reading Hall" in the main municipality building.
The workshop, presented by Dr. Ehab Makki from the Canadian Hospital, covered many awareness topics about the extent of the impact of diabetes on the health of community members, the nature of their lives, and how to deal with and prevent infection with this disease, as well as encouraging community members to pay attention to conducting periodic examinations to ensure their health, and to pay attention to early diagnosis to avoid the effects and repercussions of this disease on public health.
The workshop also discussed raising awareness of a number of preventive methods to prevent diabetes or delay its onset, through following a healthy diet, exercising and doing physical activity to prevent its complications, as well as educating on how to support and help those afflicted with diabetes and those affected by it, and identifying the most important first aid for a diabetic patient in the event of sudden seizures or fainting.
