Abu Dhabi City Municipality has organised an awareness event titled “We Care for Our City” in the Qarn Yafour area, in collaboration with the Labour Accommodation Authority, New National Medical Centre, and Grand Gifts. The initiative forms part of the Municipality’s ongoing efforts to strengthen community engagement with the workforce and reinforce awareness of their important role in supporting municipal objectives and maintaining the city’s overall urban appearance.
The event coincided with World Environment Day, underscoring the importance of promoting positive environmental behaviours and fostering a culture of protecting the environment and public facilities. This aligns with the Municipality’s broader efforts to build a responsible and aware community, where all members contribute to environmental protection and the enhancement of quality of life.
The programme included an awareness workshop for workers, focusing on the importance of adhering to proper behaviours that support the preservation of the public realm. It also highlighted the most common violations and explained their negative impact on the environment, public health, and overall living conditions within and beyond labour accommodations.
A dedicated environmental workshop was also delivered in celebration of World Environment Day, emphasising the importance of environmental protection, responsible daily practices, and behaviours that help reduce visual pollution while preserving public facilities and residential areas.
At the conclusion of the event, prizes were distributed to participating workers in recognition of their engagement and positive participation in the awareness sessions.
The “We Care for Our City” initiative forms part of a broader series of community and awareness programmes implemented by Abu Dhabi City Municipality to strengthen partnerships with all segments of society, promote a culture of shared responsibility, and support efforts to embed sustainability values, protect the environment, and enhance the city’s urban appearance.
