As part of its ongoing efforts to promote public safety and strengthen community awareness, Abu Dhabi City Municipality organised a 15-day awareness campaign under the slogan “Darna, Our Responsibility”. The campaign targeted users of community facilities that include cycling tracks and sports walkways, with a particular focus on educating cyclists on the importance of adhering strictly to designated cycling routes and refraining from using walkways and areas reserved exclusively for pedestrians.
The campaign aimed to reinforce community members’ compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines governing public facilities; to enhance personal and public safety within cycling tracks and sports walkways; and to raise awareness of the importance of responsible and civilised behaviour when using these spaces. It also sought to reduce accidents and injuries, foster a culture of mutual respect among users, and strengthen the concept of shared community responsibility.
Municipality teams conducted field awareness visits across a range of municipal community facilities that feature cycling tracks and sports walkways. During these visits, teams engaged directly with facility users, providing guidance and advice on proper and safe usage, and emphasising the importance of respecting movement and safety regulations within these areas, thereby ensuring the safety of both pedestrians and cyclists.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality calls on community members to continue cooperating in preserving these facilities and using them in a positive and safe manner. The Municipality affirmed that such campaigns reflect the spirit of community partnership, contribute to enhancing quality of life, and reinforce the values of civility and social progress, emphasising that community safety begins with individual adherence to rules and instructions.
This campaign is one of the campaigns that are organized monthly under the slogan “Our Home is Our Responsibility”, stemming from the municipality’s keenness to promote a safe environment in community facilities, maintain the civilized appearance that it enjoys, in addition to reducing the risks resulting from the random or incorrect use of bicycle paths.
