To enhance awareness among accredited technical inspection companies and construction sector entities about the requirements for technical inspection of tools and equipment at construction sites, Abu Dhabi City Municipality, through its Urban Planning Sector – Environment, Health, and Safety Division, organized an awareness workshop at the Municipal Community Center located at the Municipality’s headquarters. The workshop targeted contractors, consultants, and technical inspection companies within Abu Dhabi's construction sector.
The workshop highlighted the importance of adhering to technical inspection standards for tools and equipment in the construction industry. It emphasized the necessity of conducting regular inspections and audits of equipment and machinery across all construction sites, ensuring that they are carried out by highly skilled and experienced personnel in the field.
Participants were also reminded of the critical need for accredited maintenance companies to maintain equipment and machinery, following manufacturers’ recommendations regularly. The workshop underscored the role of technical inspections in extending equipment's operational lifespan and reducing recurring malfunctions. It elaborated on the standards and scopes of accredited technical inspection companies in Abu Dhabi's construction sector.
The session reinforced the concept of health and safety when using construction tools and equipment by ensuring their efficiency and safety during operation. It recommended raising technicians' awareness of how to perform technical inspections correctly and effectively and stressed the importance of conducting inspections through accredited companies. Additionally, the workshop advocated training all equipment and machinery operators in the construction sector to enhance their skills and capabilities, thereby fostering higher safety standards at construction sites.
After the workshop, an open discussion was held to address participants' questions and inquiries, with responses provided by speakers and specialists. This interactive session aimed to maximize the benefits of the workshop and reinforce its key recommendations.
