As part of the Abu Dhabi City Municipality's vision of a "Beautiful Abu Dhabi" and in line with the plans of the Sub-Municipalities Operations Sector – Parks and Recreational Facilities Department, aimed at rehabilitating and improving fountains, water features, and their associated elements on Abu Dhabi Island, and to enhance the efficiency of hard and electromechanical assets, in support of the initiative to improve quality of life and the city's overall appearance, the Technical Services Department at the City Municipality Center has completed the rehabilitation works on two fountains located above Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street Tunnel, at the intersection of Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street and Zayed the First Street (near Qasr Al Hosn). This street is one of the main roads and vital routes on Abu Dhabi Island.
The project included the development of the two fountains according to the latest designs that reflect aesthetic appeal, aligning with environmental sustainability standards and a harmonious aesthetic appearance. The project also involved the rehabilitation of the structural framework of the fountains, the refurbishment of the pump rooms and water tank, the installation of 523 square meters of mosaic tiles, cladding the fountain walls, installing 12 submersible pumps, 200 water feature outlets, 216 multi-colored underwater spotlights, as well as the installation of electromechanical devices, control equipment, and the connection of the fountains to the control center (SCADA). Additionally, the surrounding areas of the fountains were maintained.
