In line with Abu Dhabi City Municipality’s keenness to organize community and sports events that would make construction workers happy, and with the aim of enhancing their physical health, entertaining them, and strengthening their social relations, the Environment, Health and Safety Department organized a community recreational sports day for workers at Al Masar Park in Khalifa City.
The event was keen to raise workers' awareness of the importance of physical fitness, consolidate the values of teamwork and solidarity among workers, provide the best health, sports and entertainment options that would make workers in this vital sector (construction and building sector) happy, care for all segments of society, activate the value of communication between workers in this sector, and create an atmosphere of fun and entertainment, which falls within the priorities and goals of the municipality seeking to improve the quality of life at all levels.
The sports day included the formation of 7 sports teams, including: a running challenge team, a football team, a volleyball team, a basketball team, a table tennis team, a tennis team, and a sports training team, to hold sports competitions among workers.
The sports day witnessed many different sports matches, honoring participants and winners, motivating workers on the importance of practicing sports, and educating them on the need to follow a healthy and sound diet, in order to preserve their health and general safety.
