Abu Dhabi City Municipality has announced the readiness of its slaughterhouses to receive the public during the blessed Eid Al Adha. The slaughterhouses are expected to receive around 37,000 sacrifices during the Eid holiday. The slaughterhouses have increased the number of butchers, workers, maintenance crews, and officials responsible for receiving sacrifices and delivering meat in each slaughterhouse. In addition, they are prepared to meet the public's requests through smartphone applications, providing their services easily and conveniently.
The municipality has set up air-conditioned tents and shaded walkways in the slaughterhouses' external courtyards. To accommodate the growing number of visitors, chilled drinking water is provided. Abu Dhabi City Municipality gives special consideration to determined people and senior citizens.
Slaughterhouse services will start at 6:00 AM and run until 5:30 PM on Eid Al Adha. The municipality has designated Abu Dhabi Automated Slaughterhouse in the Zayed Port area to prepare the Red Crescent and smart applications sacrifices. In contrast, Baniyas Slaughterhouse and Al Wathba Automated Slaughterhouse have been designated to receive and prepare the sacrifices of the esteemed public. Al Shahama Automated Slaughterhouse has been designated to receive and prepare the sacrifices of the public and smart applications together.
The municipality has increased the number of butchers in all slaughterhouses, with the number of butchers in Baniyas Slaughterhouse reaching 150 to prepare for an estimated 13,000 sacrifices, 50 butchers in Abu Dhabi Automated Slaughterhouse to prepare for an estimated 10,000 sacrifices, 50 butchers in Al Shahama Automated Slaughterhouse to prepare for an estimated 7,000 sacrifices, and 45 butchers in Al Wathba Automated Slaughterhouse to prepare for an estimated 7,000 sacrifices and carcasses.
A specialized veterinary medical team has been provided in each slaughterhouse to examine the animals prepared for slaughter before slaughter and the meat after slaughter to ensure its suitability for consumption. This ensures the production of healthy meat free of pathogens and preserves community members' health and safety.
The municipality has enabled the public to request sacrifices through several smartphone applications, such as "Zabehaty," "Zabayeh Al Jazeera," "Dhabayeh UAE," and "Halal Mazarana." Through these applications, users can choose the types of sacrifices, varieties, weights, cutting methods, and the place where they are delivered. The list of sheep available in the applications includes all types of sacrifices in local markets, such as local, Kashmiri, Somali, Jordanian, Australian, and others.
Abu Dhabi City Municipality is urging the public to avoid slaughtering animals outside of authorized slaughterhouses. This is considered a violation and is punishable by Law No. (2) of 2012 aims to preserve public appearance, health, and tranquility in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The municipality's sub-center inspection teams receive reports, follow up on them, and issue fines to violators.
