Abu Dhabi

Abu Dhabi City Municipality, represented by the Infrastructure and Municipal Assets Sector – Infrastructure Assets Management, held a training workshop aimed at training contractors involved in operating and maintaining stormwater drainage networks and maintenance teams in Abu Dhabi City and the mainland on using the SCADA central control system for stormwater drainage networks. The workshop was conducted in the central control room at the municipality's main building.
The workshop included training system users and providing them with comprehensive knowledge about the system's capabilities and functions, highlighting best practices, and using software to maintain infrastructure assets and ensure the safe operation of stormwater drainage networks and stations.
Additionally, the workshop aimed to enhance the operators' efficiency regarding operations, troubleshooting, and improving maintenance processes to preserve infrastructure assets and ensure their safe operation. The workshop covered the following key points:
1. An introductory overview of the SCADA central control system for infrastructure networks.
2. Enabling remote access for all new system users.
3. A detailed explanation of the system's platforms, control tools, reports, data reading mechanisms, and data handling.
4. The applied operation philosophy and maintenance issues (troubleshooting, diagnosis, and resolution).
At the end of the workshop, participants had the opportunity to ask questions and discuss the workshop topics to gain further insights, enhancing the abilities and efficiency of the staff and personnel involved in the SCADA network control system.
It is worth noting that the SCADA system operates using the latest wireless communication technologies applied in infrastructure network automation to ensure the highest performance standards. This aligns with the municipality's efforts to achieve sustainable development. SCADA is one of the most advanced central control and monitoring systems for irrigation networks and main pumping stations. Its primary goal is to regulate irrigation water distribution accurately and facilitate the operation and maintenance of stormwater drainage networks while providing quick responses to emergencies and rainstorms. It is one of the most globally efficient systems designed to accommodate various developments, including the urban expansion witnessed by Abu Dhabi.
The SCADA system is characterized by its ability to integrate new network assets and interface with modern and diverse software applications. Data extracted from the system helps develop future studies and plans to conserve water resources, plan network expansions, and support and enhance green spaces, parks, recreational areas, and overall development.
