Al Ain City Municipality is implementing a plan to expand the cultivation of green areas and focus on to planting trees and flowers of attractive colors in various areas and streets to increase green spaces all around the city.
Al Ain City Municipality statistics revealed the cultivation of 6 million and 343 thousand and 872 flowers during the past year, while the number of flowers that were planted during the first half of this year reached up to 6 million and 45 thousand and 686 flowers, the municipality aims through flower planting projects to enhance the aesthetic and civilized appearance of Al Ain city, by planting flowers in beautiful arrangements on the sides of the main and secondary roads and in the central islands and agricultural areas.
Al Ain City Municipality is also working to achieve diversity in the cultivation of flower varieties for each season according to a well-studied plan to choose multiple types and colors of flowers using modern methods and designs to highlight the aesthetic gradation of the colors and varieties used, as the municipality implements a plan to plant seasonal flowers in the city on three main lugs: summer, autumn and winter, where flowers are selected for each lug based on their suitability for climatic conditions, water need, salinity tolerance and others.
The number of shrubs planted during the past year reached 124 thousand and 793 shrubs while the number of shrubs that were planted during the first half of this year reached 80 thousand and 520 shrubs and statistics revealed that the number of trees that were planted last year was 10 thousand and 302 trees, while the number of trees in the first half of this year swallowed 5 thousand and 90 trees and the total number of local trees Ghaf, Sidr and Samar last year by 102 thousand and 751 Trees and the first half of this year 102 thousand and 751 trees.
Al Ain City Municipality is keen to pay attention to the propagation and cultivation of local plants, as it opened the first local plant garden, which was increased from 120 species when it opened to 145 species, as the local botanical garden in Asharej Walkway, which extends over an area of more than 6 thousand square meters, includes 145 species of local plants, provided with identification plates by QR code. To provide simplified information for each plant in English when using the applications available on all smart devices, as well as the development of grouped panels as a comprehensive guide to the plants inside the garden that include the name of the plant, the scientific name, the location within the garden, and a special code about plant information in Arabic and English, in addition to the availability of seating areas and shaded places along the walkway and for visitors to the park.
