Al Ain City Municipality has begun implementing 5 projects for the maintenance and improvement of roads in Al Ain City, covering 13 streets, which include urban roads, truck routes, and external roads. The maintenance work is being carried out in stages, having started in January and continuing until the end of the year. Four roads have already been completed, while work on upgrading the remaining roads is ongoing as part of the project plan.
The Municipality aims through these projects to maintain the roads, ensure their safety, improve their performance, ease traffic flow, and enhance traffic services. This will contribute to smoother movement within the city, following best global practices and standards to make these roads sustainable and highly safe for users.
The project includes upgrading the pavement layers on the new truck route, improving external and urban roads in various parts of Al Ain City. Additionally, the projects will include creating road layers, adding rest stops and parking spaces for trucks, and developing rainwater drainage systems. Corrective maintenance works, such as asphalt scraping and constructing acceleration and deceleration lanes, are also part of the project.
Urban road projects involve developing and upgrading several traffic intersections, building bicycle lanes, landscaping, pedestrian paths, creating road layers, improving turning lanes, and carrying out various maintenance tasks like asphalt patching, modifying road widths, and enhancing pedestrian movement and traffic safety.
The maintenance and upgrading plan includes several roads such as Tahnoon bin Mohammed Road, Al Tuff Road, and Hazza bin Sultan Street for the truck route improvement project. External road maintenance started with Al Tuff and Al Ajban Roads, with a total length of 48 km, of which 13.90 km is currently under construction. Urban road improvement works began on several streets and intersections, such as Tahnoon bin Zayed Street, Mitha bint Mohammed Street, and intersections like Al Falah Junction, Khalid bin Sultan Street, and Khalifa bin Zayed the First Street.
