Al Ain Municipality is currently executing a series of road maintenance and infrastructure development projects across several external roads as part of a comprehensive plan to enhance and sustain infrastructure components. These projects aim to improve road quality in line with the highest safety and security standards while increasing the efficiency of asset and public facility management to ensure long-term effectiveness.
The ongoing projects include two key initiatives for the rehabilitation of external roads. One of these is the upgrade of the pavement layers on the truck route from Al Shuwaib to the industrial area, covering a length of 60 km. This project is designed to enhance the pavement's durability, particularly for heavy truck loads, and improve road safety. Additionally, a truck rest area and parking spaces are being developed, with 40% of the project already completed. Work is also progressing on Al Shuwaib E55 road in phases, with completion expected in the first quarter of 2025. Furthermore, upgrades are being implemented on the truck routes along Hazza bin Sultan Street, Tahnoun bin Mohammed Street, and Nahyan the First Street, with the project anticipated to be finished by the fourth quarter of 2025.
On the maintenance front, work has begun on the improvement of major roads, with 35% of the project completed. The expected completion is set for the fourth quarter of 2025. The focus is on improving the asphalt pavement layers of Al Tif Road, spanning a total of 48 km. The project is being carried out in stages, including the road from Al Ajban to Sweihan and from Sweihan to Al Saad, along with the repair and maintenance of existing truck rest areas and vehicle weighing stations.
Al Ain Municipality is committed to developing the city's infrastructure and enhancing its roads in accordance with the highest safety standards and effective monitoring, aligning with Abu Dhabi's sustainable development goals. The projects are tailored to meet the needs and requirements of road users, ensuring road safety and the efficiency of the road network and infrastructure facilities.
