Al Ain Municipality Achieves Numerous Milestones Across Various Sectors in First Half of 2024
Al Ain Municipality has made significant achievements across multiple sectors during the first half of 2024, according to the latest municipal statistics. These accomplishments highlight the municipality's role in enhancing the quality of life in Al Ain by providing exceptional services to both citizens and residents.
The statistics for the first half of 2024 showcased the municipality's community events and initiatives, with 40 community events and 20 initiatives organized, drawing a total of 427,892 participants. This included the execution of 337 activities, providing 906 volunteer opportunities for community members and 2,114 opportunities for productive families, reflecting the commitment to fostering community engagement and participation in Al Ain.
The municipality's addressing project saw the installation of 370 main street name signs, 3,855 internal street name signs, and 2,170 building numbering signs across various areas of Al Ain. This project is part of the broader "My Address" initiative, which aims to maintain and complete the addressing and signage system for Al Ain. It seeks to provide a centralized addressing database and geographical names register, while also naming streets after local cultural and heritage figures to strengthen national identity.
In the technical services provided by the subsidiary municipal centers, including those in Downtown, Al Maqam, Al Amrah, Al Waqn, Al Hayer, and Mazid, a total of 4,485 requests from companies and individuals were processed. These services included permits for technical approvals, site clearances, forest and green area works, and permits for building shelters and outdoor seating, as well as assessments for traffic accident damages.
In the field of agricultural pest control, the technical departments received and processed nearly 10,000 reports, treating 612,000 palm trees and 36,600 other trees in the city, while addressing nearly 200,000 palm trees in Al Ain's aflaj (irrigation channels).
Health-related statistics included over 15,000 procedures, including inspection visits, awareness campaigns, warnings, and violations targeting men’s and women’s beauty salons, as well as laundries. Three awareness campaigns were conducted, with 4,175 inspections carried out at livestock pens, and 1,046 inspections at pet shops. Additionally, 4,662 service requests for animal holding were processed, demonstrating the municipality’s commitment to public health and animal welfare through consistent inspections and awareness efforts. Al Ain’s abattoirs received over 200,000 livestock for slaughter in the first half of the year, conducted 1,435 laboratory tests, and issued 4,427 health certificates and reports.
