Al Ain City Municipality releases an awareness campaign among the “Safety in Hot Weather” initiative along with work ban hours in the afternoon, which is applied all over the country from 15 June to 15 September.

 

This initiative aims at raising public awareness with the requirements for applying the standards of safety in hot weather and protecting the laborers from the risks of exposure to sun heat and high temperature in summer, with notifying the employees with the best practices and occupational safety and health requirements, which protect them from injuries and damages during working in extreme temperature.

 

Dr. Ghuwaiyah Al-Nuaimi, Section Manager of Awareness and Communication Section at the Environment, Health, and Safety Department in Al Ain City Municipality, stated that the municipality aims, through the "Safety in Hot Weather" initiative, to educate 6,500 workers about the dangers of working in hot and exposed areas and the prevention methods. She explained that the initiative includes field visits to construction project sites in the city to assess the companies' compliance with the decision to prohibit work during midday hours and to educate workers and employers on how to handle cases of heat stress.

 

It worths noting that the work bans hours at midday, the company shall provide shaded areas during the ban months to protect them from sun heat during the work ban periods, or during practicing licensed works, together with providing appropriate cooling tools and sufficient quantities of water intake, hydrating materials such as salts, as well as providing first aid kits on the worksite.
