Al Ain City Municipality has begun implementing improvements to the road borderline fences on several main roads in Al Ain City, with an estimated cost exceeding 39 million A.E.D. The project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025. This initiative aims to preserve wildlife and ensure the safety and security of road users from the risks posed by stray animals.
Engineer Ahmed Al-Nuaimi, the project manager, stated in a press release today that the improvement works aim to enhance traffic safety on both external and internal roads. Additionally, the project includes the implementation and maintenance of the existing fencing along the roads.
He added that: “the project works include the maintenance and replacement of metal fences, as well as several improvements to the main roads, through the installation of a fence with a length of 205 kilometers and the implementation of 62 gates, in addition to the installation of 227 metal barriers to prevent access of stray animals.”
Al-Nuaimi explained that:” the scope of the project includes 11 main roads from the sites which witness stray animals and require implementation of metal fences.
For its part, the Al Ain City Municipality emphasized its commitment to implementing projects that enhance road safety, which aim to improve road efficiency to reduce losses resulting from accidents. Additionally, these projects seek to preserve the biodiversity of the local environment, achieving a balance between comprehensive development across various sectors and protecting the environment and its resources.”
